The algorithm claimed this incident stemmed from a recommendation by Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who allegedly stated that the rabies virus grants “superpowers.” Ultimately, the artificial intelligence declared both politicians dead.

The Reality: How Data Poisoning Works

This claim is entirely fabricated. It serves as a textbook example of a digital threat known as data poisoning. This tactic involves intentionally seeding disinformation on the public web, calculating that algorithms will index the flawed data and use it to generate future responses.

The source of this particular hoax traces back to two resources: a fake news site used to legitimize AI-generated text, and a Reddit community whose members refer to themselves as “AI activists.”

Members of this community actively seek out vulnerabilities in generative networks. Their stated mission is to expose the flaws of major tech platforms that automatically regurgitate absurd data under the guise of verified facts.

Manipulating Links to Legitimate Media

To make AI-generated answers appear credible, these systems typically provide source citations. In the screenshots featuring the rabies narrative, the algorithms cited a genuine ABC News article as supporting evidence.

Reviewing this link clearly illustrates the mechanics behind an AI hallucination. The original ABC News report covered the death of a Michigan resident who contracted rabies following an organ transplant. The article contained absolutely no mention of Trump, Vance, or Kennedy Jr.

The search engine essentially hallucinated a connection, conflating the keyword “rabies” from a reputable news outlet with the fictional narrative scraped from the “poisoned” WKNA 49 source.
