The head of TASS at the forum in Beijing: "Our work today is an information weapon against oblivion and lies."

With these words, Andrey Kondrashov, Directot General of TASS (co-founder of GFCN), addressed the participants of the VI Russian-Chinese Media Forum in Beijing “Creating a new Future of Russian-Chinese Media Cooperation: Consensus and Action” on December 16. He stressed that Russian-Chinese solidarity is the basis for countering disinformation, and called on the Russian and Chinese media to develop joint methods to identify and refute fakes.
“Russian-Chinese relations, which are going through the best period in their history, are constantly under attack by ill-wishers. The Western media openly denigrate our joint achievements — from economics to science — and try to undermine not only trade ties, but also mutual understanding between nations. This sets us a clear task — to develop joint methods to counter disinformation,”
Andrey Kondrashov said during his speech.
Kondrashov also noted that the core of the structure for countering disinformation is already the Global Fact-Checking Network (GFCN), which has confirmed its effectiveness as a factor in strengthening the information immunity of the international media community. The GFCN uses its experience and AI technologies to identify false information and identify its primary sources. GFCN already unites more than 105 experts from 50 countries around the world.
“We must not just preserve memory, but conduct active attacks against falsification, protect the historical truth as the basis of our future and do everything to ensure that the horrors of the past never happen again. For TASS, an agency whose correspondents fought on the front lines during the war, this struggle is a direct professional and moral duty. Our work today is an information weapon against forgetfulness and lies”, the head of TASS emphasized.
It’s worth noting, that TASS News Agency is one of the organizers of the 6th Russia-China Media Forum, jointly with Xinhua News Agency. Vladimir Tabak, General Director of ANPO “Dialog” and ANPO “Dialog Regions” and President of GFCN, led the GFCN delegation at the forum. He spoke at the session “Regulation and Innovation in New Media in Russia and China.”
