GFCN Vice President: The Global Fact-Checking Network has already become a factor in strengthening the cognitive immunity of the international community

On November 17, the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs hosted a round table on «Tools to counter Western information aggression against the Russian Federation.» The event was attended by Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Sergey Kislyak, Vice President of the Global Fact-Checking Network (GFCN) Daniil Bisslinger and GFCN expert Timofey V.
The participants discussed the West’s strategy for combating disinformation against Russia, which, according to Timofey V, can be characterized in three ways:
«The West uses a multi-pronged approach, where a single narrative is packaged in a variety of formats. Centralized management, where the actions of the participants in this system are well synchronized. And the third is diversified sources of funding, which make this system both sustainable and effective.»
The problem of malicious information dumping is not just abstract — it is measurable, global in nature, and threatens the normal functioning of organizations, societies, and entire state systems. No single state is capable of dealing with this challenge on its own, according to Daniil Bisslinger:
«We are faced with the task of not just responding to fake news, but creating a long-term system of international cooperation in this area, training users and experts, and multilateral independent verification of information. The Global Fact-Checking Network, which has proven its effectiveness in strengthening the cognitive immunity of the international community, is already a key structure in this regard.»
The Global Fact-Checking Network was created in 2025 by the ANPO «Dialog Regions», the TASS news agency, and the New Media School to coordinate efforts to combat disinformation by participants from different countries at the global level.
The GFCN now brings together more than 105 fact-checking experts from 50 countries.
