Fact-checking for everyone: over 100 free educational materials are available on the GFCN website

What are factoids, how to recognize deepfakes, and how can we avoid cognitive biases? The answers are available in a unique educational library filled with materials from the Global Fact-Checking Network (GFCN) experts on countering false information from around the world. Everyone can get free access to the tools of a professional fact-checker and learn how to protect themselves from the effects of fakes.

The GFCN reminds you about the free knowledge base for future and current fact-checkers. The section was launched on June 20 this year at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

This is a structured educational section, where more than 95 GFCN specialists from 47 countries share proven tools and best practices in the field of fact-checking. By the end of the summer, the knowledge base includes more than 100 training materials: articles, lectures, useful instructions and video tutorials on fact-checking, including 2 basic video courses.

Here you will find a whole collection of practical materials for different levels of fact-checking skills:

  • Practical instructions: how to check the authenticity of a photo, video, news or quote
  • Comprehensive information from theory to practice: systematized information on various topics related to unreliable information and ways to counter it
  • Clear video lessons: basic courses on fact-checking, as well as visual analysis of cases from the real practice of fact-checkers and history
  • Lectures and master classes: recordings of GFCN experts’ presentations on various forums, allowing a deeper understanding of the nature of disinformation and its impact on society in the context of the global community

We publish educational materials in the public domain so that anyone can ensure their own information security. Since the materials are aimed at different levels of fact-checking skills: from beginner to advanced, everyone can build up their knowledge in accordance with their current needs.
