How the GFCN's Fake News Counteraction Training Unfolded at the Global Digital Forum

GFCN and the “New Media School” successfully concluded the first educational day of the Global Digital Forum in Nizhny Novgorod. Forum participants enjoyed a packed agenda, which, in addition to discussions and panel sessions, included masterclasses, lectures, and engaging quizzes led by top experts in fake news counteraction.

Timofey V, an expert from the Global Fact-Checking Network (GFCN), conducted a masterclass on fact-checking for attendees. He provided a detailed breakdown of the step-by-step fact-checking process and shared his tools, techniques, and practical tips for identifying fake news and countering information manipulation.

Alexander Ulanov, Vice-Rector for Development, Innovation, and Digitalization at the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Foreign Ministry, discussed modern approaches to combating disinformation and highlighted the crucial role of diplomatic institutions in countering the spread of fake news.

Kirill Sidorov, Director of Digital Development at TASS, delivered a presentation on key trends in media digital transformation, emphasizing their significance in the fight against disinformation. He also showcased strategies for effective media collaboration and introduced fact-checking tools.

Ivan Serov, Head of Creative Projects of the Department for Countering the Spread of False Information at the ANPO “Dialog Regions”, hosted an interactive quiz where participants honed their skills in identifying misinformation through real-world case studies.
