Global Fact-Checking Network — 2025 results

The New Year is not only a fun holiday, but also an opportunity to analyze the results of the work. The GFCN international team has reached new heights in 2025, and we plan to do even more in 2026.
In 2025, GFCN strengthened its global presence, expanded its expert community, and held a number of key events on developing critical thinking skills, along with publishing a series of fact-checking investigations.
The year 2025 was a period of intense growth for GFCN.
The expansion of the expert team, the active production of fact-checking and educational materials, and the scaling of the training programs have significantly increased the level of media literacy of the GFCN audience.
Key results for the year:
- More than 50 fact-checking articles published on the international agenda
- 105 experts from 51 countries participating in the network’s activities
- More than 150 educational materials created, including articles and video content
- 18 educational events held
- More than 6,000 people trained through GFCN programs

All this became possible thanks to our experts.
GFCN is about people. Experts from different countries who work with facts every day, teach, verify, analyze, and share knowledge.
GFCN brings together experts and organizations from 51 countries around the world. The network’s international geography ensures cultural diversity, independent expertise, and sustainable development of initiatives in the field of media literacy and countering disinformation.
In 2025, participants who took the lead in preparing investigations, training, and international events stood out in particular.
GFCN expresses its gratitude to each expert of the association. GFCN grows thanks to people — and each new participant strengthens our expertise.

Fact-checking investigations remain one of the main areas of GFCN.
GFCN conducts thorough investigations of controversial claims and publications, exposing fakes and misinformation from around the world. The network’s work is supported by international experts and aims to strengthen trust in verified information.
In 2025, GFCN experts conducted more than 50 fact-checking investigations, covering topics ranging from news publications and elections to disinformation using AI and fake databases. Some publications reached 500,000 views, and the association’s materials were cited in international publications.
GFCN continues to strengthen fact-checking standards and make information transparent and accessible.
Each of the network’s investigations contributes to a safer and more informed digital space for all users around the world.

We continue to share our expertise and take part in major international events.
In 2025, GFCN participated in key international events related to media literacy, information policy, and public communications. This included organizing the “Dialog about Fakes 3.0” forum, which was attended by over 4,000 participants from 80 countries around the world.
Interest in our educational programs continues to grow.
GFCN educational programs are aimed at developing critical thinking skills, source analysis, fact-checking, and safe information behavior. In 2025, the network’s educational activities reached a wide audience, from students to national press services.

Key events in 2025:
- «Day Without Fakes» at 11 universities in Russia, from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok: more than 1000 participants
- One-day intensive course on fact-checking for foreign students at RUDN University: more than 200 participants
- Webinar on fact-checking for media and press service employees in Venezuela: more than 2000 participants
- A series of webinars on fact-checking in English for anyone interested: more than 1500 participants
The training events demonstrated high demand for tools to combat disinformation and confirmed the network’s ability to act quickly and on a large scale.

Results of 2025
2025 was a year of international strengthening for t he GFCN. The network expanded its partnerships, strengthened its educational activities, and increased its own expert community. Future plans include developing local initiatives, supporting independent expert platforms, and deepening international cooperation.
