GFCN presents a series of open webinars on fact-checking

The GFCN online fact-checking school is expanding. In addition to the public articles and videos on our website, we are introducing a new learning format: online seminars with expert speakers. The program will start next week!
Lessons schedule (Moscow, UTC+3):
November 25, 12:00-13:30 — “Practical Fact-Checking” (webinar in English)
Participants will gain practical knowledge on conducting fact-checking investigations. Sergey Maklakov, Head of the Department for Countering Fake Information at ANPO “Dialog Regions”, will tell about current threats and trends in disinformation. The main part of the webinar will be a practical block. GFCN expert Timofey V will give examples and a step-by-step analysis of information verification methods.
December 2, 12:00-13:30 — “Modern AI-tools in the media sphere”
GFCN expert and cybersecurity specialist Lily Ong will expose the mechanisms of deepfakes in information attacks. Mikhail Neustroev, an expert of the New Media School, will highlight the dual role of artificial intelligence in journalism — as a source of new risks and at the same time a powerful assistant for fact-checkers.
December 9, 12:00-13:30 — “How to work with fakes in media teams using the example of the TASS news agency”
Representatives of one of the country’s leading news agencies will share their practical experience in organizing anti-fake work within a large media organization. Participants will learn how information verification processes are set up, and what tools and technologies are used to promptly detect disinformation.
December 12 — information will be available later
