Experts discussed the Western countries' "Factory of Lies" and its operating methods at the press conference in Moscow

Experts from the USA, Italy, and Russia discussed the role of fake news in modern geopolitics and unanimously noted that the West actively uses fabricated data to manipulate entire countries, with a huge role being played by a negative figure the US is supposedly fighting for the sake of peace and democracy. This parallel was drawn by the participants of the presentation of the book by American military expert A.B. Abrams, “Atrocities Fabrication and Its Consequences. How Fake News Shapes World Order,” which took place on September 30 at the TASS.

“I started working on this issue around 2018-2019, during Donald Trump’s first presidential term. At that time the escalation between China and United States began. I got the impression that the US was treating China the same way it treated North Korea. It was clear from the start that the existence of a fake news campaign was undeniable,” says the author A.B. Abrams.

According to his words, there is an entire network for the fabrication and dissemination of such fake narratives. To do this, the enemy is accused of genocide, mass torture, and other crimes, and monstrous crimes are attributed to it.

“During the Cuban conflict, there were plans to fabricate terrorist attacks in the United States and even to blow up planes in order to blame the Cubans and justify the deployment of military forces in Cuba and other hostile actions. This pattern is also evident in all other conflicts.” — Abrams shared his observations.

American journalist Christopher Helali recalled how, in preparation for the aggression against Iraq, media outlets were flooded with reports that Iraqi soldiers were allegedly killing infants in maternity hospitals. Colin Powell then showed a test tube containing a sample of Iraqi weapons of mass destruction at the UN, which were never found in Iraq.

“Later, during the war in Yugoslavia, the same “atrocities” were fabricated against the Serbs. Russophobia today can be considered a continuation of this trend,” — Helali concluded.

The examples given seem so monstrous that it is difficult to imagine how people could believe them. However, the West is still spreading disinformation that cannot be verified by logic, and these methods are still working. Timofey V, Head of Strategic Directions at ANPO “Dialog” and an expert of the Global Fact-Checking Network (GFCN), shared several recent examples. An illustrative case of the “jamming” of Ursula von der Leyen’s plane, which the pilots allegedly heroically landed using paper maps.

“This story is interesting not only for its comical nature, but also for the way it was presented in the Western media. It was a matter of two clicks to expose it — judging by open sources, the actual delay of the European Commission President’s plane was only 9 minutes” — noted Timofey V.

A detailed investigation of this situation is published on the GFCN website.

A similar situation is unfolding around the “Russian drones” that are allegedly “flying freely” over almost all of Europe. Despite its absurdity and unreliability, the story of the UAV continues to unfold in the Western media, Timofey V pointed out.

How is it possible that the Western audience obediently “swallows” all this fake news? Giorgio Bianchi, a photojournalist and documentary filmmaker from Italy, spoke about the difficulties of fighting disinformation in the West when it is broadcast by the majority of the media.

“It is very difficult for independent journalists to refute such narratives. We are actually fighting a battle, and we are doing it without investment or political support. This is the story of David fighting Goliath,” he noted.

Countries that want to preserve their sovereignty, should be aware of such methods and be able to defend themselves, warns military expert and author of the telegram channel ColonelCassad, Boris Rozhin. Those who do not do this are effectively handing over their future to Western manipulators.

“In the postmodern world, meanings are inflated. And if you put an entire society under an information dome, as in Nazi Germany, modern Europe, or Ukraine, the truth simply doesn’t get in,” — Rozhin explains.

People need to see how these false metanarratives from the West are working against themselves, explains Fortis Press CEO Marina Potekhina. This is how she explained why the publishing house took notice of Abrams’s work.

A.B. Abrams’ book is a study that covers the transformation of geopolitical narratives that have influenced the world order over the past 100 years. In this book, the author uses various examples to demonstrate how, since the 1930s, the deliberate dissemination of fake news has provoked global armed conflicts, and analyzes how these false metanarratives have become the foundation of modern geopolitics.

Vietnam, Cuba, Yugoslavia, Iraq, and the US-China rivalry — A.B. Abrams traces the evolution of the creation and use of fake news in 11 major conflicts from the Cold War to the present day.

On October 29, ANPO “Dialog Regions” will host the third international forum, “Dialog about Fakes” in Moscow. The goal of the Forum to coordinate efforts in the fight against fake information by government agencies and the expert community. Experts from more than 80 countries will participate in the event, discussing how to fight against fake information in various aspects.
