Countering the Disinformation “Assembly Line”: GFCN Launches Global Fact-Checking Lesson in 50 Languages at Mediaprom Festival

YEKATERINBURG, April 2, 2026 — The Global Fact-Checking Network (GFCN) has announced the launch of a multilingual educational initiative designed to empower users to identify and debunk sophisticated disinformation. The project was unveiled during the Mediaprom Media Festival in Yekaterinburg, where GFCN Vice President Daniil Bisslinger addressed the expert panel, “Media Essentials in a Tech-Driven World.”
While the festival’s morning plenary session focused on the high-level concept of the “Economy of Trust,” Bisslinger’s afternoon session pivoted toward practical, applied tools for the modern media landscape.
Addressing questions on whether verification technologies can keep pace with generative AI — and if “undetectable” deepfakes now exist — Bisslinger acknowledged that the technological arms race is intensifying daily. However, he emphasized that GFCN’s primary strategy involves more than just advancing algorithms; it focuses on mass education in digital hygiene.
Speaking immediately following the panel, the GFCN Vice President commented on the launch of the new tool:
“AI has made fake news scalable. Disinformation is no longer a niche craft for specialists; it has become an assembly line with a very low barrier to entry. At the same time, neural networks can — and must — be a force for good. As proof of this, we are today releasing a fact-checking video lesson on a dedicated GFCN landing page, available in 50 languages,” said Daniil Bisslinger.
The new video lesson serves as a practical handbook, adapted for global audiences through the use of AI-driven translation and localization. It is designed to establish the “base minimum” of skills required for journalists and content creators to navigate the era of automated disinformation.
The video lesson is now available on the official project landing page: https://start.globalfactchecking.com/videos/
